Dudley sportspeople and sports clubs are celebrating after doing very well at this year’s Black Country Sports and Physical Activity Awards held on November 9th. The event, which was organised by the Black Country BeActive Sports Partnership and hosted by BBC WM’s Pete Morgan, recognised sports clubs and their volunteers and sportspeople who dedicate time to making sport happen across the Black Country. The event also included a celebration of London 2012 with presentations made to Black Country Olympians, Paralympians, Event Officials, Torchbearers and Games Makers.

Sport England £1million training fund to make sport more inclusive
Sport England has announced an investment of £1million into a training programme which will help more than 10,000 coaches, leaders, assistants and parents to include more young people with disabilities into sport. Business support for sports clubs
Sport England and Pricewaterhouse Cooper are working together to help improve the business skills of sports clubs.
The Club Leaders programme is part of the Olympic Legacy programme, Places People Play and provides free training and support to those involved in the day-to-day running of community sport. School Games in the Black Country
The Black Country Local Organising Committee is looking for 14-18 year olds to support the School Games Programme across the Black Country.
The committee is looking for individuals to contribute ideas to help to shape the school games festival. Anyone interested should contact Craig Taylor via E-mail: craig_taylor@blackcountryconsortium.co.uk.

 
The Barclays Community Sports Awards
The Barclays Community Sports Award recognises individuals dedicated to benefitting their communities through sport during each month of the Barclays Premiership season. Winners can come from any sport and each winner receives £1,000 for their organisation plus the chance to win a further £5,000 for the organisation at the end of the season. Criteria: At least 50% of the award should be spent on sports of skills-based qualifications.

Sport England: Small Grants programme, no deadlines
Size of grant available: £300 - £10,000. The aims and outcomes of funder are activities to help people become involved in sport (GROW), keep people in sport SUSTAIN) or help people to excel at their  chosen sport (EXCEL). Applications invited for both revenue and capital costs for new projects deliverable within 12 months. Call 08458 508508. Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation
Capital and revenue funding is occasionally  available to registered CASCs (community amateur sports clubs).
Types of project: Building and refurbishment of sports facilities and physical activity projects that get more people taking part in sport. Size of grant available: £1,000-£200,000.
