Celebrate the Olympic year

If you’re thinking of organising a celebration to link with the Olympics, you might want to get some support with running Community Games. Would-be Community Games organisers can sign get ideas, resources, workshops and help with promoting their event through the Community Games website (www.communitygames.or.uk). The next workshop on ‘Organising your Community Games’ is on Tuesday 17th April 2012, 6.30pm-9.30pm at Wolverhampton University’s Walsall campus. For more information and to book, contact Laura Whitehead on laura_whitehead@blackcountryconsortium.co.uk or call 01384 471139.

Alternatively, why not sign up as a Local Leader and receive ideas and tools to make your celebration happen? You might not want to do anything sporty and that’s fine, Local Leaders also has ideas for celebration events such as gardening, quizzes and fun nights in! Visit www.london2012.com/get-involved/local-leaders/index.php for more information.

Help shape the future of sport in England

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching, sport has rarely had a higher profile in England and Sport England wants to build on this. Sport England is conducting its fourth annual sport satisfaction survey which aims to improve people’s sporting experiences across the country. With your help, Sport England will gain a greater understanding of what motivates people to play sport, the challenges participants face and what can be done to improve sport for you. To take part in the survey and be entered in a prize draw to win up to £250 in High Street vouchers, please visit surveys.ipsosinteractive.com/wix/p1301304602.aspx?engage=1 by 7th May.

Try a new sport! If you fancy trying a new sport, why not do it by raising money at the same time? Gold Challenge can link you with over 30 sports to try and 125 charity partners to fundraise for and registration is free. For more information, visit www.goldchallenge.org.
