Health & Social Care

Dudley residents can now find out how adult social care has performed in the borough.
Dudley MBC, together with people who use services and its partners has published its second adult social care report (or local account) called Improving lives, making a difference.

The Coiuncil is looking for people to give their views on the account by completing an online questionnaire  and telling how it can be improved in the future. (Feedback is required by 21 May)

The report, which covers the financial year 2011 - 2012, states how the council has performed as a provider and commissioner of adult social care services. It is based around six key areas which include information and advice, active and supportive communities, flexible care, workforce, feeling in control and safe and personal budgets.
As well as reporting on performance to date, the report includes plans for the future in each of these areas. The report contains real stories of people who have received adult social care, as well as comments from people about their experiences. It is also calling for people to get involved in future reports.

A Dudley MBC statement says: “At some point in our lives, most if not all of us, will need help with everyday living because of an illness, a disability, because we are getting older or because we are caring for someone. Our vision is that people should have choice and control over how they receive support, and this support should be based on prevention, on promoting independence, better quality of life and personal budgets. This year the council has worked with many people who use services and is confident that the report reflects the real picture of adult social care in Dudley.”

The Account is also available in hard copy, summary, audio, large print or easy read versions.
Dudley MBC is hosting a series of Making it Real in Dudley stakeholder sessions as detailed below. The Council wishes to encourage as many providers, partners, staff and stakeholders to come along and take part. Places are free and can be booked on line; go to the forthcoming events section of www.makigitrealindudley.org
