Our strategic objectives

To develop a high quality and pro-active voluntary sector for the benefit of the
residents of the Dudley Borough by positively engaging partners in support of
voluntary activity

The winter warmth scheme is managed by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, working in partnership with other local organisations, including NHS Dudley, Age UK and Dudley Council for Voluntary Services (DCVS), it aims to keep people who may be struggling to keep warm at home through a  variety of practical hands-on support, information and expert advice.
Anyone concerned about keeping their home warm, struggling with paying their fuel bills or worried about keeping well during the winter can ask for help from the scheme. All sorts of help can be provided, including; expert advice on paying fuel bills, energy debt, assistance with home energy efficiency improvements, grants and accessing warm homes discount funds.

Emergency crisis heating measures are also available, such as portable heaters, blankets, hot water bottles and even warm clothing. The scheme will also arrange for local volunteers to make regular ‘befriending’ checks on people who may be at risk of becoming isolated during cold weather. Befrienders can also help out with shopping trips, collecting prescriptions, dog walking or transport. Last year’s winter warmth support scheme helped almost 250 households.
