Our strategic objectives

To develop a high quality and pro-active voluntary sector for the benefit of the
residents of the Dudley Borough by positively engaging partners in support of
voluntary activity

We’re devastated to announce that DY1 suffered a break in in the early hours of Thursday morning (October 27).

Takings, IT equipment and money raised at a recent MacMillan Coffee Morning were taken and thieves used a ram to break down doors into individual offices, causing significant damage to the fabric of the building. A distinctive white Ford Transit Connect belonging to charity Lunch on the Run was also stolen (its registration number V010 PUF).

DY1 officially opened last November after we took on the management of the building from Dudley Council and refurbished it for community use. The centre is now home to charities that support vulnerable people with health, wellbeing, skills development and mental health. It is a place of work and training for people with learning difficulties and regular training, drop in sessions and other activities that support the community are run from there.

Our Chief Officer Andy Gray said, “It’s heartbreaking that people could do this to charities that work so hard to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people in our community. We won’t be defeated but the services run from DY1 have been disrupted. We’re working with staff, volunteers and other supporters to reopen DY1 as quickly as possible. We’re heartened by the many messages of support that we’ve been receiving since we announced the news earlier today.”

We hope to reopen DY1 on Friday 28 September. This will be confirmed on DY1’s Twitter feed @dy1venue.
